Visalia Pride BBQ

As a lot of you know Saturday May 31, 2008 marked Visalia’s first Pride event in 10 years…yeah thats right 10 years (give or take)!!! The event was a big step for Visalia’s GLBT Community as I rode around Plaza Park on the back of a Harley with the Dykes on Bykes from Fresno with a big Rainbow American Flag.
We had some supporters and sponsors that helped us get Visalia’s Pride event a good start of which ID Lube donated a banner, water bottles, trash cans, and a gift box of lube. Blitz hosted the after party by opening its doors at 3:30 pm with discounted drinks! Next year we will be bigger with more sponsors and support from the Community.

  2. I am sorry to say the young man who said it was the first gay Pride in 5 years he was wrong, On July 20 ,2006 . 27 gay people had a BBQ at blain park in order to become more out. And my frien passed the same year so I remember it well.

  3. oh stop being a stick in the mud jon. unwad your panties and be happy the event was so successful. a bunch of friends having a BBQ, although admirable, is not a Pride event. were there dykes on bikes at your bbq? were there rainbow flags? did the press come interview you? last month’s Pride BBQ was the first OFFICIAL pride event in about 10 years. if you want to comment, thank somebody…give congrats or kudos to all the fine people who worked so hard to put on the event for the good of the local community. otherwise id be ok if you just kept your trap shut. thanks! :-)

    If the community didn’t hear about a a great gathering of gay people did it really count.

    Mike I had a great time and thank all the hard working friends that made the Pride BBQ possible.

    We were heard loud and clear!
