PFLAG Comes to the South Valley
Last evening at 7 pm an amazing thing happened. Room one at the College of the Sequoias was filled (really FILLED) with a diverse group of people, all of whom had come together to attend the first meeting of PFLAG Tulare-Kings Counties. Once again, after being told how conservative and closed the community would be to a group such as PFLAG, we proved the nay-sayers wrong. Although the meeting was designed to be an introduction to the concept of PFLAG, what it is, how it works, we had a number of “PFLAG moments” occur, not the least of which being my public moment of teary realization that we were all there together and PFLAG had happened. To everyone who came from the QV community, I say “Welcome and come back again” and to those of you who didn’t because you forgot or didn’t think it would make much difference to your life, I encourage you to consider test driving us the third Sunday of EVERY month at COS, Room 1 Admin building at 2 pm.
When I asked Don how many people he thought attended he said he didn’t count them, but there was “an ass in every chair so it looked full to him.” There were straights, gays, lesbians and I’m not certain what else. What I am certain of is that we’ve just begun and we will continue to be there, thanks to everyone.
Steven
I remember counting at one point and it was around 35, I’m sure there were more since people kept coming.

Actually, Steven, the word I used was “butt”. Not to imply that the other one is outside my repertoire, LOL.

I think Steven arrived at 46 after I suggested we just count chairs. Them all having been “occupied”, and all…
