Expert says the local economy improving
The economy has begun to turn around on many levels, economist Christopher Thornberg says, although it may not be obvious to everyone yet.
“The recession ended two years ago,” he said, “when you measure the actual period of time when the economy is contracted to when things start to turn around.”
“Be worried for the right reason,” he said. “Understand that the U.S. economy is producing more goods and services today than it did before the recession began, and we’re doing this with fewer people. So the job situation is really a social crisis that’s slowing recovery down.”
